Life Is a Playground of Possibilities” Playshop

Saturday May 27, 2023, 1.30pm-4pm, in Hong Kong

A live, in-person “playshop” for heart-centered people on a quest for more love, joy, meaning and fulfillment in life, and for coaches, healers and therapists who support people to heal and thrive.

  • Transform your old, limiting thoughts, beliefs and stories about yourself and the world
  • Listen to the wisdom of your body
  • Say “Yes, and…” to the offers from the Universe
  • Experiment playfully with some new, more resourceful, more joyful ways of thinking and being
  • Use my “The Playground of Possibilities” card deck, with 52 action-provoking “What would be possible for me if I…?” questions to ask yourself
  • Learn some processes and a mindset that you can share with your friends, family, clients, colleagues, students…

Don’t just take my word for it. Participants in previous “Life Is a Playground of Possibilities” workshops commented:

“Collective magic, under your careful guidance, at work! What a lovely thing to participate in!”

“Everyone unanimously agreed that your workshop is wonderful, playful, and so clearly facilitated from your heart.”

“By participating in these upbeat activities, we were able explore in a safe and supported way, how our instilled and conditioned mindsets, beliefs and stories about ourselves and the world impact on our body, our behaviour and our choices. As a high school Psychology teacher the workshop helped me to start thinking about how the cards may complement the work I do with the teens I teach to help them become more self-aware and manage their stress levels more effectively.”

In English. For people aged 15+. Maximum 20 participants.

“OMANTRA meets The Playground of Possibilities” Facebook Live event

December 1, 2021
Here’s the recording of the one-hour Facebook Live event that I did with my lovely niece Omanisa Ross – she’s a skilled healer, naturopath, artist and author who lives in Darwin, Australia. We’ve each created a deck of cards with statements or questions that prompt people to choose more resourceful thoughts, beliefs and stories about themselves and the world and take inspired action. Omanisa’s is called “OMANTRA”. So in the Facebook Live event, we chatted about the decks and how we use them (they’re not fortune-telling decks), and offered demonstrations to participants.

“The Power of “What if…?” Questions and an Improv Mindset” workshop

Wednesday February 27, 2019, in Hong Kong
A 2-hour experiential workshop especially for coaches, healers, therapists, counsellors, teachers, trainers…, to build their toolkit of ideas and processes for transforming their clients’ and students’ (and their own!) approach to life and work. I led them in some co-operative improvisational games, and we used my “The Playground of Possibilities” card deck to explore how to use thought-provoking questions.

Thanks to Transcend for hosting this event!

And here’s the Facebook Live video of an interview I did on February 22 with the lovely Noreen Mir on RTHK Radio 3 here in Hong Kong, to promote the workshop. If you’re not on Facebook or you’d prefer to listen to the audio, go to the “123 Show” page on the RTHK website and scroll down to “22/02/2019 – Kay Ross – A corporate trainer”.

“Life Is a Playground of Possibilities” workshop

In this public workshop/playshop (in English, for people aged 15+), I use the card deck, some meditative/mindfulness exercises, and some co-operative improv games, so that you let go of your old, limiting thoughts, beliefs and stories about yourself, choose more useful ones, see bigger possibilities for yourself, take inspired action, and improvise more resourceful, joyful ways of being.

I’ve presented it many times in Hong Kong, twice at the 2015 annual conference of the international Applied Improvisation Network in Montreal, Canada, and once in Darwin, Australia. Stay tuned for news of the next one in Hong Kong.

Here’s what some participants have said:

  • “I don’t know what happened last night but I feel like I have had some sort of shift. I feel so calm and contented today.”
  • “Thanks for making the experience meaningful and fun. As a facilitator, you are fun, engaging and able to get your point across, without imposing your views. I enjoyed every part of the session and am now putting what I learned into practice.”
  • “Collective magic, under your careful guidance, at work! What a lovely thing to participate in!”
  • “Everyone unanimously agreed that your workshop is wonderful, playful, and so clearly facilitated from your heart.”
  • “It was exactly what my day, rather my week, rather the past few months have needed – a light and stimulating session that reinforces a recognition and appreciation of the abundance in our lives, and more importantly a subtle, natural and innate confidence to act upon it.”
  • “I attended the Playground of Possibilities workshop with Kay on Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Kay introduced us to a range of practical activities based upon using her PoP card deck and improvisation games. By participating in these upbeat activities, we were able explore in a safe and supported way, how our instilled and conditioned mindsets, beliefs and stories about ourselves and the world impact on our body, our behaviour and our choices. As a high school Psychology teacher the workshop helped me to start thinking about how the cards may complement the work I do with the teens I teach to help them become more self-aware and manage their stress levels more effectively. It was a lot of fun. Thank you Kay!”

The Power of “What if…?” Coaching Questions and an Improv Mindset

Thursday June 14, 2018, in Hong Kong
I led a 90-minute workshop for coaches, trainers and facilitators, presented by the Hong Kong International Coaching Community. It was an exploration of how they could use “What if?” questions and some improvisational activities with clients, AND themselves. Because the stories we tell ourselves matter, and life and work don’t come with a script.

Horizen – Journey InwardHorizen
Saturday March 24, 2018, 8am-5pm, Hong Kong
An event presented by Balance Health here in Hong Kong. LAUGH

TEDxHKPolyU

Saturday March 10, 2018, 12.30pm-6pm, Hong Kong Polytechnic University
I was one of the speakers at this TEDx event. The theme was “Unscripted”, and I spoke about how life is an improvisation game and a playground of possibilities. Here’s the video of my talk (15m 8s): “Welcome to the Playground of Improvisational Possibilities | Kay Ross | TEDxHKPolyU”

At that TEDx event I also performed an improv set with two of my improv friends, Christopher Coleman and Namrata Bindra. For that one-off performance, we called ourselves TEDxcellent Improv. Here’s the video (16m 5s): “Unscripted Improv | TEDxcellent Improv | TEDxHKPolyU”

I’m also available for workshops and talks at companies, organisations, schools, universities, conferences…
